About Cowboy's Sweetheart
Who Am I?
My name is Amy and I am the Boss Lady, Creative Outlaw, and Word Wrangler at Cowboy’s Sweetheart Jewelry… I've been creating handcrafted jewelry for as long as I can remember, working out of my studio in Gold Hill, Colorado, where I spend many hours soldering, hammering, sawing, filing, and polishing. I'm a 2010 Halstead Jewelry Grant Winner, certified Waldorf teacher, and children’s book author.
Why the name "Cowboy's Sweetheart"?
Cowboy's Sweetheart takes its name from the women who defined rodeo's golden age — fearless competitors like Mabel Strickland and trailblazing entertainers like Patsy Montana, who shattered every expectation while somehow making it look effortless. The name is my ongoing nod to that particular brand of grit and grace — and a wink at the idea that "sweetheart" ever meant passive or small. Strickland said it best: "I've been in the saddle since I was three. Still I love dresses and everything that goes with them." That's the spirit that inspires this jewelry.

About the Jewelry
What materials do you use?
Every effort is made to work exclusively with recycled sterling silver, 14k gold, turquoise, and ethically-sourced gemstones. The material is chosen for quality, sustainability, and beauty.
Is each piece truly handmade?
Yes. Every single piece is created by me in my Gold Hill, Colorado studio. No mass production. Just my hands, my tools, and a whole lot of intention.
Are your pieces few-of-a-kind?
Most are… Some are one-of-a-kind. Even when I replicate my designs, each piece is unique because of the natural variations in stones and the handmade process. No two are exactly alike.
Why are some pieces listed as "pre-order"?
As an independent silversmith working with precious metals and ethically-sourced gemstones, material costs can fluctuate almost as wildly as Colorado’s weather in April. Offering pre-order pieces, rather than keeping large amounts of inventory on hand, allows me to manage materials wisely and invest in creating new designs. This keeps me excited and engaged as an artist, which ultimately makes a better jewelry experience for everyone. Keep in mind, pre-ordered pieces can take 4-6 weeks to ship. Please contact me first if you would like something rushed and I'll do my best to accommodate.
What's the difference between ready-to-ship and pre-order pieces?
Ready-to-ship pieces are finished and available to ship immediately—buy today, and it goes out promptly.
Pre-order pieces are crafted specifically for you after you place your order. They're my own designs with the same care, quality, and ethically-sourced materials as everything else I make—just created fresh for you rather than waiting on a shelf.
The quality, ethics, and intention behind every piece? Non-negotiable, regardless of whether it's ready-to-ship or made-to-order.
Why does handcrafted jewelry cost more than mass-produced pieces?
Great question. Here's what goes into every piece:
Materials: Recycled sterling silver, 14k gold, and ethically-sourced gemstones cost more than their mass-produced counterparts—but they're worth it. You're investing in quality and sustainability.
Time: Each piece is made by hand from start to finish. There are no shortcuts. A single necklace can take hours of design, metalwork, stone-setting, and polishing.
Expertise: I've spent years perfecting my craft. You're not just paying for the time it takes to make a piece—you're paying for the thousands of hours of experience that came before it.
Ethical Practices: Sustainable sourcing, small-batch production, and conflict-free materials cost more—but they align with values that matter.
Longevity: My jewelry is designed to last generations. It's heirloom-quality work, not disposable fashion.
When you invest in Cowboy's Sweetheart, you're choosing quality over quantity, ethics over convenience, and supporting a woman-owned, small-batch biz.
Orders & Product Care
Do you ever have sales or offer discounts?
Occasionally! The best way to stay in the loop is to join my email list. I'll let subscribers know first about any special offers, new collections, and events.
Can I see pieces in person before buying?
Absolutely. I have a seasonal shop in Gold Hill, Colorado (generally open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Wednesday-Sunday evenings, 4pm-dark). I also participate in select trunk shows and markets—join the email list to find out where I'll be next!
Do you take custom orders?
Yes! I love creating custom pieces that are variations of my existing work as time allows. Pricing depends on materials, complexity, and timeline. Contact me to start a discussion about your ideas.
How long does a custom piece take?
Custom orders typically take 4-6 weeks from design approval to completion, depending on my current workload and the complexity of the piece. Rush orders may be available depending on my schedule or for an additional fee.
Can I request a specific size for rings, bracelets, or necklaces?
Usually, YES!! In some cases, due to design restrictions or the way the piece is crafted, I can’t. Holla to see if I can meet your specific needs.
What if I break my jewelry? What if I lose an earring?
I shudder at the thought. First, go ahead and pound your fists and swear loudly — that's completely understandable. Then take a breath, because I will do my absolute best to repair or replace your broken or lost piece.
Drop me an ugly-cry on the contact form and I'll let you know what's possible. Fair warning: I'm a jeweler, not a magician, but I'll give you an honest, upfront estimate before any work begins.
How do I care for my sterling silver jewelry?
Sterling silver will naturally tarnish over time—that's just chemistry, not a flaw! Here's how to keep it shining:
- Store in a cool, dry place (airtight bags help prevent tarnish)
- Polish with a soft cloth or use a silver polishing cloth
- Avoid wearing in chlorine, saltwater, or while using harsh chemicals
- Remove before showering or exercising
I'm always happy to answer care questions—just reach out!
What about turquoise and gemstones?
Turquoise and most gemstones are more delicate than metal.
Avoid exposing them to chemicals, or dropping them onto hard surfaces. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. With proper care, they'll last lifetimes.
