Only one who attempts the absurd is capable of achieving the impossible. Which is why in November I will attempt something completely absurd, and I will call it: “Thirty New Designs In Thirty Days.”
Designing something new every day for a month…Crazy, right?! With the push to complete my children’s book last winter and managing the busy tiny shop this summer, I have not had the time to dedicate to new jewelry designs as I had hoped. I’m hardly a studio sloth, but sometimes difficult tasks occasionally need to be undertaken. While they might be challenging, and may even lead to failure, when they are accomplished it can be very rewarding. I’ll be building skills, trying out different techniques, and thinking outside the box as I discover new ways to approach my work. At the very least, it will be a great exercise in perseverance, and in addition, the attempt will offer me the opportunity to grow, which is the whole point.
So, off I go to saw, hammer, solder, and file my little fingers down to nubs. I plan to share my progress daily here and here.
